History

It will host the 2020 ACC Western Region T20 in February 2020. It will play host to the 2021 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup, as well as UAE, owing to an increase of cases in India. The Al Amerat Turf 1 was extensively modified after gaining entry into the bid to stage the 2021 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup, including floodlights and pavilions. The capacity of the stadium is expected to be 4000, including VIP and VVIP seating, as well as dedicated commentary boxes. nThe digital scoreboard was also enhanced. During the tournament’s first round stage, six matches were staged at the stadium, including all of Oman’s games.
