It has been the home venue of the Tamil Nadu cricket team and the Chennai Super Kings since their inception. Chepauk hosted its first Test match on February 10, 1934, as well as the Ranji Trophy encounter in 1936 and India’s first Test victory against England in 1952. M.A. Chidambaram stadium was formerly known as the Madras Cricket Club Ground or Chepauk Stadium, and it was renamed in memory of the former BCCI president and Tamil Nadu Cricket Association boss after its renovation.
