The Pierre Werner Cricket Ground, also known as the Walferdange Cricket Ground, is a prominent cricket venue located in Walferdange, central Luxembourg. It serves as the home ground for Luxembourg’s top cricket club, the Optimists Cricket Club, which competes in the Belgian Cricket League, as well as the Luxembourg national team.
Opened in 1991, the ground was renamed in 2002 to honor Pierre Werner (1913–2002), the former Prime Minister of Luxembourg and honorary president of the Optimists Cricket Club. Established on land generously donated by the Walferdange commune, the ground is situated near the picturesque Alzette River, providing a scenic backdrop for cricket matches.
