Allan Border Field (Brisbane) – Pitch Report

Allan Border Field is a cricket ground located in the Brisbane suburb of Albion, Queensland. Since 2004, it has served as the base for the Australian Cricket Academy, playing a key role in the development of elite cricketers from across the country. Previously known as Neumann Oval, the ground was home to the Fortitude Valley Diehards rugby league team from 1909 to 1995. It was named after Fred “Firpo” Neumann, the club’s captain and later president, who was also a Queensland and Australian representative footballer. Following the relocation of the rugby team, Queensland Cricket purchased the ground and renamed it in honour of Allan Border, a former Australian cricket captain. Today, Allan Border Field functions as a training facility for both the Queensland Bulls and the Australian national cricket team. With a seating capacity of 6,300, it is considerably smaller than the Gabba and is also used as a home venue for the Queensland Bulls and Cricket Australia XI in domestic competitions.
