Brabourne Stadium is a cricket venue in Mumbai, formerly the home ground of IPL team Mumbai Indians. For sports matches, it can accommodate 50,000 spectators. The Cricket Club of India owns the ground. The headquarters of the Board of Control for Cricket in India and the 1983 Cricket World Cup winner were housed in the North Stand of Brabourne Stadium until 2006, when they were relocated to a new Cricket Centre at Wankhede Stadium nearby.
The Brabourne Stadium is where Test matches were held from 1948 until 1972 and it was the venue for numerous Bombay Pentangular games from 1937 until 1946. The Bombay Cricket Association (BCA) subsequently constructed the Wankhede Stadium a few hundred meters north of Brabourne Stadium after disputes over ticketing arrangements with the CCI. After the Wankhede Stadium was completed, Brabourne no longer served as a Test venue, although visiting sides played a few first-class matches there. Apart from cricket, the ground has hosted tennis and football events, as well as musical performances and concerts.

Is Brabourne Cricket Ground Batting Or Bowling Pitch?
In limited overs Cricket, dew has an impact, therefore the team that wins the toss prefers to bowl first. During the day time, the Wankhede Stadium’s pitch gets a little more Bounce owing to its proximity to the sea; as a result, it becomes a spin pitch and occasionally aids swing bowlers. Due on account of its proximity to the sea, this ground’s mood is altered from time to time, resulting in it becoming a spin pitch and enabling swing bowlers.

History
Brabourne stadium has been home to international cricket for many years. It hosted the ICC Champions Trophy in 2006, and it was the site of India’s inaugural Twenty20 International in 2007. After 36 years, a Test Match was held at Brabourne in December 2009, establishing a new world record for the longest span between two Tests at the same venue. The Mumbai Indians played several ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2013 matches here. The ground has remained a regular international venue since the BCCI voted to allocate international matches according to its rotation strategy at its AGM in September 2013. This stadium was also used by the BCCI on May 29, 2014, for IPL eliminator matches between Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings. The stadium served as a backup home ground for the Rajasthan Royals in IPL 2015.
