The Brian Lara Cricket Academy is a multi-purpose stadium located in Tarouba, San Fernando, Trinidad and Tobago, and was completed and inaugurated in 2017. Primarily used for cricket, it is situated in southern Trinidad, just outside the city of San Fernando, next to the Sir Solomon Hochoy Highway, approximately two kilometers southeast of the former Guaracara Park. With a capacity to hold 15,000 spectators, the stadium features a combination of fixed seating and grass banks. It is named after Brian Lara, the legendary former West Indies cricket captain, who held the record for the highest runs in Test cricket until he was surpassed by Sachin Tendulkar on 17 October 2008. Originally, the stadium was planned to host warm-up matches during the 2007 Cricket World Cup and later serve as a cricket academy. However, due to delays in construction, the warm-up matches were moved to Frank Worrell Field at UWI St Augustine. The stadium gained international attention when it was chosen to host the final matches of the 2017 Caribbean Premier League (CPL), marking its first high-profile event. Since then, the Government of Trinidad and Tobago secured the rights to host the CPL finals at the Brian Lara Cricket Academy through to 2020.
