History
In 1954, the Kent First XI played a County Championship game against Gloucestershire at the ground in a low-scoring rain-marred draw, which was followed by Kent’s first List A match at Midland Bank Sports Ground in 1970. Between 1885 and 1905, Kent played home games at Foxgrove Road in Beckenham, before moving to The Oval.In what is now south-east London, the county has a long history of playing on fields. Until 1965, Beckenham was part of Kent and it is regarded as being “Metropolitan Kent.” Grounds in Blackheath, Catford, Crystal Palace, and Dartford have all been utilized by the club in the past for a total of more than 150 matches; after 1842, when the county club was formed,White Hart Field in Bromley became its initial venue.
