Lavington Sports Ground, formerly known as “Lavington Panthers Oval” from 2001 to 2009, is a versatile sports venue situated in the suburb of Hamilton Valley, near Lavington, on the north-western outskirts of Albury, Australia. Nestled into the side of a hill, the oval features distinctive concrete terraces on its southern side, set below a grass embankment, while its grandstand and changing rooms are strategically located on the north-western flank. The facility also boasts a range of features, including a four-table cricket wicket, a velodrome for track cycling, and two netball courts. Previously, the Lavington Panthers Sports Club licensed venue was conveniently located just across Hanna Street from the ground.
Lavington Sports Ground serves as the home base for the Lavington Panthers Football Club, competing in the Ovens & Murray Football League, and is a regular host for the league’s grand finals, which draw crowds ranging from 10,000 to 15,000 spectators. During the summer, the ground transitions to a cricket venue with a turf wicket and acts as the home ground for the Lavington Panthers team in the Cricket Albury-Wodonga Provincial competition. With its rich sporting history and multi-purpose facilities, Lavington Sports Ground remains a central hub for the local sporting community.
