National Cricket Stadium is a cricket stadium complex on River Road in Grenada, the Caribbean nation of Grenada. In 1887, the first Grenada cricket team appeared against a touring Gentlemen of America side at the old Queen’s Park. Ten years later, the team was documented playing against Lord Hawke’s touring party, although that game did not have first-class status like several others during the tour. G. A. de Freitas and William Mignon were the first Grenadians to play first-class cricket in 1899.

Is Grenada National Cricket Ground Batting Or Bowling Pitch?

Batters have the upper hand in Grenada National Cricket Stadium’s pitch report. If we examine just the two matches held here, it becomes apparent. West Indies needed 160 runs in 15 overs yesterday, which was achieved behind bowlers including Kagiso Rabadas and Anrich Nortje.

History

  • The newly restored Queen’s Park Stadium became the 84th Test venue when it hosted its inaugural match between the West Indies and New Zealand in 2002. As of August 18, 2014, two test matches have been played at the ground. It was one of the host stadiums for the 2007 Cricket World Cup.
  • The oval is unusual in that it is elongated towards the Pavilion end, giving it a more baseball-style appearance. The People’s Republic of China paid for the stadium.
