History

  • In 1992, the oval was chosen as “Ground of the Year” by the Sydney Cricket Association.
  • In 1998, the first use of technology to prevent injury at cricket stumps was made at Sydney Cricket Ground. Since then, the technology has advanced considerably, and it is employed by a number of top sporting stadiums around Australia, including Sydney Showground Stadium, Adelaide Oval, and Melbourne Cricket Ground.
  • In 2015, it was reported that North Sydney Oval would be receiving upgrades. Upgrades will continue until 2019/2020.
