Pakiasothy Saravanamuttu Stadium, commonly known as P. Sara Oval, is a multi-purpose stadium located in Colombo, Sri Lanka. Primarily used for cricket, this venue has been an important part of Sri Lanka’s sporting culture. It holds a capacity of 15,000 spectators and hosted its first Test match in 1982. The stadium is named after Paikiasothy Saravanamuttu, a former civil servant and the first President of the Board of Control for Cricket in Sri Lanka. It is the home ground of the Tamil Union Cricket and Athletic Club, which has a rich cricketing history. Although the P. Sara Oval typically hosts one Test match each year during Sri Lanka’s summer Test calendar, it lost the opportunity to host the Sri Lanka vs. Australia Test series to the Pallekele International Cricket Stadium in 2011. Despite this, the P. Sara Oval remains one of the most iconic cricket grounds in the country, providing a venue for numerous memorable matches.
