Pembroke Cricket Club (Sandymount) – Pitch Report

Pembroke Cricket Club, established in 1868, is located at Sydney Parade on Park Avenue, near the historic village of Sandymount in Ballsbridge, a prestigious suburb of Dublin. The club derives its name from the Pembroke Estate, which originally owned the grounds. In 1983, Pembroke Cricket Club purchased the grounds from the estate, sharing ownership with Monkstown Football Club.

The club is highly active, fielding six men’s teams in league and cup competitions. Over the years, it has boasted remarkable players, including Frank Malin, a bowler and the first chairman of the Irish Cricket Union, and Harry Hill, Master of the High Court, who kept wickets for three decades from 1947 to 1977. Hill held the Leinster record for 502 dismissals (292 catches and 210 stumpings) until surpassed by Charlie Kavanagh, another accomplished Pembroke wicketkeeper.
