Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium, also called Mirpur Stadium, is a cricket stadium in Dhaka, Bangladesh is an International cricket ground in Mirpur, The Bangabandhu Stadium is located a few kilometers from the country’s capital, Dhaka. The ground, which has a capacity of 25,000 people and is named for Bengali statesman A. K. Fazlul Huq, was built in Mirpur 10 kilometers from the city center and was named for him after he received the title “Sher-e-Bangla” from the government.

History
The stadium, which is located in Kushtia, was built for football in the late 1980s and first hosted matches at the Asian Club Championship in 1987. In 2004, the Bangladesh Cricket Board acquired and replaced the Bangabandhu National Stadium as the men’s and women’s national teams’ home with help from Japanese construction firm Obayashi Corporation.
The stadium, which reopened in 2011, has hosted several international matches since its completion. The first international game at the refurbished ground took place in December 2006, and the venue has subsequently hosted matches of the 2011 World Cup, 2012 Asia Cup, 2014 Women’s World Twenty20 Championship as well as most BPL games (BPL).
