It serves as the home ground for the Port Elizabeth Cricket Club, one of the oldest cricket clubs in South Africa, along with the Eastern Province Club and Sunrisers Eastern Cape. The venue also hosts Test matches and One Day Internationals, making it a significant location in South African cricket. Notably, it predates Kingswood College in Grahamstown.
