History
The home of Northerns (Northern Transvaal), formerly known as Centurion Park, is conveniently located near Johannesburg, Midrand, and Pretoria.
It is one of South Africa’s newest stadiums and Test cricket venues, and has been praised by several International Captains as “one of the world’s finest grounds in terms of player facilities.” The grass embankments, which make up a major portion of the seating area, are ideal for family enjoyment. Beach Cabanas type hospitality chalets have been built on top of the grass banks for additional corporate viewing pleasure. At the north end of the stadium, a pavilion completes the 22,000-seat capacity.
It is recognized for being one of the quickest pitches in South Africa, and it also gives a lot of batting options since the ball usually arrives onto the bat. It has never been considered a spinners paradise. The outfield is level, green, and quick, with an equally as sophisticated drainage system comparable to any other in the world.
