The Rose Bowl, officially called the Utilita Bowl for sponsorship purposes, is a renowned cricket ground and hotel complex situated in West End, Hampshire. Serving as the home of the Hampshire County Cricket Club since 2001, the venue replaced the County Ground in Southampton and the United Services Recreation Ground in Portsmouth, which had been the club’s bases since 1882.Hampshire played their first-ever first-class match at the Rose Bowl from May 9 to 11, 2001, securing a 124-run victory against Worcestershire. Over the years, the ground has become a prominent international cricket venue, hosting One Day Internationals, the 2004 Champions Trophy, two Twenty20 Internationals, and several Test matches, including England’s games against Sri Lanka and India in 2011, 2014, and 2018.In 2020, amidst the COVID-19 pandemic, the Rose Bowl served as one of two biosecure venues alongside Old Trafford, facilitating tours by the West Indies, Pakistan, and Ireland under strict safety regulations.
