VRA Cricket Ground, in Amstelveen, Netherlands, is the home of VRA Amsterdam since 1939. It has a capacity of 4500 people and regularly hosts World Cricket League, Intercontinental Cup, and CB40 games for the Netherlands national cricket team.

The Netherlands played New Zealand in 1978 at this ground, which was previously used for international cricket. It has hosted several One Day Internationals (ODIs), including a game during the 1999 Cricket World Cup and the 2004 Videocon Cup between India, Pakistan, and Australia. The 1990 ICC Trophy was the first to be held outside of England, and it was held on this ground.

The VRA Cricket Ground has played host to significant moments in Dutch cricket, including a three-run win for the Netherlands over an England XI that included future England captains Alec Stewart and Nasser Hussain in 1989. In July 2006, Sri Lanka faced off against the Netherlands in their maiden home ODIs, with Sri Lanka scoring 443/9 from their 50 overs, which was at the time ODI cricket’s highest team total.

Is VRA Cricket Ground Batting Or Bowling Pitch?

VRA Cricket Ground is a beautiful cricket ground in the centre of Colombo. The pitch at VRA Cricket Ground is usually a good batting wicket, with the ball coming onto the bat nicely. There may be some bounce on offer for bowlers as well, according to reports. It should be a competitive battle between bat and ball, with the weather expected to be mostly cloudy but pleasant for the day.

History

The Amsterdamse Bos is home to the VRA Cricket Ground in Amstelveen (close to Amsterdam). Several cricket-playing nations have played here. The Netherlands national team faced South Africa’s touring party on this square in July 1998. India A visited the Netherlands for a series of games in August 1998, and the first three-day match was held here that September when India A hosted South Africa. The ground became an official ODI facility during the World Cup in 1999, when it hosted South Africa’s match against Kenya.

Australia, India, and Pakistan faced off at the Videocon Cup ODI tournament in VRA Cricket from August 21-28, 2004. The participating teams were Australia, India, and Pakistan. It was attended by over 25,000 fans and 700 million television viewers.

The most runs scored in an ODI match is 443, which Sri Lanka achieved against the Netherlands in 2006. This milestone was maintained for ten years.

The venue has hosted a number of international cricket matches, including those involving Australia, the West Indies, Sri Lanka and Zimbabwe. The Netherlands played against England in 1989 and India took on Pakistan in 1992. It also hosted games involving Kenya, Namibia, Nepal, Namibia and Scotland during the African region’s World Cup Qualifier tournament in 2014.
