Is Bankstown Oval Ground Batting Or Bowling Pitch?

As many nations as India, Australia, Pakistan, and England itself struggled batting on the surface, I’d characterize it as a bowling pitch.

History

Bankstown Oval is a popular venue for NSW second eleven and colts matches, having previously hosted a Sheffield Shield match between the Bulls and the Warlions in November 1996 when the SCG had been double-booked for a Michael Jackson concert. On his home ground, Steve Waugh scored an century during the first day of first-class cricket; however, Andrew Symonds making a hundred in one session was overshadowed by him doing so on Day 3.

In November 1997, the Women’s Cricket World Cup came to Bankstown Oval, where Australia played New Zealand for the Rose Bowl. In 2000-2001, major interstate cricket returns to Bankstown Oval while the Sydney Cricket Ground is being reconstructed, with a match in each of the Pura Cup and Mercantile Mutual Cup staged here.

In 1999-2000, the Oval in Bankstown has consistently placed first in the Sydney Cricket Association’s Ground of the Year competition, with Warwick Starr and Tom Parker as groundsmen. The ground’s consistent dominance is a testament to Warwick Starr, who succeeded Tom Parker.
