The architecturally unique Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium (Hindi: हिमाचल प्रदेश क्रिकेट ए. ) is a picturesque cricket stadium in Dharamshala, Kangra district, Himachal Pradesh, India. The Dalai Lama of Tibet is famous throughout the world as the administrator of Dharamsala, which is located in northeastern India. It’s also one of the most picturesque cricket grounds in the world. The stadium was used by the Himachal Pradesh cricket team for Ranji Trophy matches and other domestic games. As a home ground, the stadium has hosted some IPL games.

The captivating location is unique in India as it is located at an elevation of 1,457 m above sea level and has snow-capped Himalayan mountains in the backdrop. Dharamsala may be reached from Kangra Airport, which is about 8 kilometers away through hilly terrain and harsh winters, when it rains and snows often making it difficult to organize regular games.

During his term as the director of the National Cricket Academy in India, David Whatmore recommended that the stadium can be used to stage international cricket matches. The Pakistani cricket team played their opening warm-up game against an India A side at this venue in 2005, becoming the first international squad to play there.

Is (HPCA) Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium Batting Or Bowling Pitch?

Traditionally, Dharamsala has produced batting surfaces, but the overcast conditions at the venue are expected to benefit seam bowlers far more than they would expect. The bounce and carry of the surface will still work in favor of the batters, particularly those who generate a lot of hard contact.

History

Stunning. Breathtaking. Incredible. As one enters the most beautiful ground in India, the adjectives fly out of the door. The Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association [HPCA] Stadium, with a capacity of 23,000 in Dharamsala, is as beautiful as Adelaide Oval and Newlands when it comes to scenery. A tiny, sparkling green plate serves as a stunning backdrop for the snow-capped Dauladhar hill range behind it. The beauty of this location is enhanced by the surrounding hills, which are at an elevation of 1,317 meters above sea level. Another remarkable feature is its openness and small-sized stands, which allow winds to sweep through during contests. The venue also employs winter rye grass broadcast throughout the outfield, preventing grass from dying when temperatures drop below 10 degrees Fahrenheit.

Despite the fact that it snows and rains in the wintry months, Dharamsala has yet to host international matches because of the difficulties with scheduling them. Despite snow falling on the ground in recent weeks, it held its first ODI between India and England in January 2013, despite being hampered by harsh winters. The IPL’s 2010 extension brought Dharamsala more attention, and it has the potential to become one of India’s most popular stadiums.
