History

De Beers Diamond Oval in Kimberley, South Africa is a stunning stadium. There are two ends to the stadium called North and South stands. Griqualand West, a local domestic team, plays there. The De Beers Diamond Oval, a lovely, open field with plenty of grass banks that are popular with South African spectators, hosted its first one-day international in April 1998 when Pakistan chased down a Sri Lankan total of 295 to win by four wickets. That has been the case in most one-day games, which have had high scoring. Ealham’s 5 for 15 in 10 overs against Zimbabwe in January 2000 is the exception that proves the rule. The venue hosted three Cricket World Cup matches in 2003.Prior to being known as the De Beers Country Club and Kimberley Country Club, it was called the De Beers Country Club and Kimberley Country Club.
