In March 2010, the Punjab Cricket Association announced plans to build an international standard cricket stadium in Mullanpur, spread across 41.95 acres with an estimated cost of ₹230 crore (US$29 million). The stadium is named after Maharaja Yadavindra Singh, the ninth and last ruling Maharaja of Patiala. As of 2024, the MYS Stadium serves as the home ground for the Punjab Kings in the Indian Premier League (IPL).
