The County Ground, also known as the Cooper Associates County Ground and nicknamed Ciderabad, is a cricket ground in Taunton, Somerset. Since 1882, Somerset County Cricket Club has played there. The capacity of 8500 is shown on the grounds located between Priory Bridge Road and St James Street.In 1881, the ground was constructed as part of a sports center by Taunton Athletic Club, and it became the home of the Somerset County Cricket Club soon after. The club acquired the ground in 1896, under the management of club secretary Henry Murray-Anderdon. To the north is the River End, and to the south is the Somerset Pavilion End.
On August 8–10, 1882, Somerset played their first first-class game on the ground, defeating Hampshire County Cricket Club by five wickets. Later in August, an Australian national cricket team visited the venue to play against Somerset, becoming the arena’s first international side. The ground has hosted numerous international matches, including the first-ever Cricket World Cup match in 1983 between England and Sri Lanka for a group stage encounter. The ground also hosted two group-stage games during the 1999 Cricket World Cup and will host the 2019 Cricket World Cup. Since 1997, women’s international cricket has been played at this venue, and it is now the home of the England women’s cricket team. In 2006, it became home to the English ladies’ cricket team. The ground hosted (men’s) international cricket in 2017 with a Twenty20 International (T20I) bout between England and South Africa.

History
The County Ground, Taunton, is located in the heart of Taunton, within walking distance of the town center. The most southerly of English first-class grounds, it is a ground with a lot of personality despite numerous renovations and improvements. For many years, a greyhound track encircled the playing area; it was removed in the 1970s. St. Jame’s Towers (left) and St. George’s (right), as well as St. Mary’s Cathedrals, rise behind the pavilion.The county’s main entrances are called after John C. White, who worked here from 1909 to 1937. The county was founded in 1882, although the first Championship match wasn’t held until 1891. In 1948, 10,000 people packed into the ground to see Don Bradman’s Australians play West Indies. During the 1983 and 1999 World Cups, one-day internationals were also played at this venue.
