How to Play Chess | Game Rules & Live Betting

Chess is not just a game of kings, it’s a battle of strategy, patience, and foresight. With over 1,000 years of history, Chess has transformed into one of the most popular mind sports in online betting. Unlike fast-paced games like football or basketball, Chess betting is about predicting the mental game — every move, every tactic, and every blunder can change the outcome.

Whether it’s classical formats, rapid games, or blitz matches, Chess is now streamed worldwide with live betting options available for Indian users.

Chess is a two-player strategy game played on a square board with 64 black and white squares. Each player starts with 16 pieces:

  • 1 King 👑

  • 1 Queen 👸

  • 2 Rooks 🏰

  • 2 Bishops ✝️

  • 2 Knights 🐴

  • 8 Pawns ⚔️

The objective is simple: Trap the opponent’s King (this is called Checkmate).

🔹 Step 1: Setting Up the Board

  • Place the board so that each player has a white square at the bottom-right corner.

  • Arrange the pieces as:

    • Back row (left to right): Rook, Knight, Bishop, Queen, King, Bishop, Knight, Rook

    • Front row: All Pawns

👉 Tip: Remember “Queen on her own color” (White Queen on white square, Black Queen on black square).

🔹 Step 2: How Each Piece Moves

  1. Pawn – Moves forward 1 step, but captures diagonally. On its first move, a pawn can move 2 steps forward.

  2. Rook – Moves straight in rows or columns, as far as possible.

  3. Knight – Moves in an L-shape (2 steps in one direction, then 1 step sideways). Only piece that can jump over others.

  4. Bishop – Moves diagonally any number of squares.

  5. Queen – The strongest piece, moves like rook + bishop (straight + diagonal).

  6. King – Moves 1 square in any direction. The King cannot move into “check” (danger).

🔹 Step 3: Special Rules

  • Castling: King + Rook move together for safety. King moves 2 squares, Rook jumps over.

  • En Passant: Special pawn capture if an opponent’s pawn skips 2 squares from its starting position.

  • Pawn Promotion: If a pawn reaches the opponent’s last row, it can be promoted to a Queen, Rook, Knight, or Bishop.

🔹 Step 4: Winning the Game

  • Check: When a King is under threat but can escape.

  • Checkmate: When a King is trapped and has no legal moves → game ends.

  • Stalemate: When a player has no legal moves but is not in check → game is drawn.

🔹 Step 5: Game Formats

  • Blitz: 3–5 minutes each ⏱️

  • Rapid: 10–30 minutes each

  • Classical: 30 minutes to several hours

  • Bullet: Ultra-fast, usually 1 minute per player
