Woodvale Road, located in Eglinton, Northern Ireland, is a prominent cricket ground and the home of Eglinton Cricket Club, established in 1936. The ground has a capacity of 2,000 spectators and is renowned for its rich cricketing history.
Over the years, Woodvale Road has hosted two first-class matches and three List A matches, with two additional matches abandoned without a ball bowled. Notably, it was the venue for a 2005 ICC Trophy match between Canada and the Netherlands, as well as Ireland’s opening match of the Intercontinental Cup against Kenya in 2009.
The North West Cricket Union aims to develop the ground into a fully international venue, recognizing its importance as one of Ireland’s iconic cricket grounds. The ground has already hosted a Twenty20 match between Ireland and Bangladesh A, North West Cup finals, and even welcomed the Australian national team to its field, further cementing its status in Irish cricket.
