The Ghazi Amanullah Khan Cricket Stadium is located in the eastern Nangarhar Province of Afghanistan, near Jalalabad, in the newly developed Ghazi Amanullah Town. It holds the distinction of being the first international cricket stadium in the country and has hosted regional cricket matches for over a decade, reflecting the nation’s growing love for the sport.
Construction of the stadium began in March 2010, with the foundation stone laid by Omar Zakhilwal, the Minister of Finance and then-president of the Afghanistan Cricket Board. The project was developed on 30 acres of land donated by the developer of Ghazi Amanullah Town. The first phase, completed within a year at a cost of $1.8 million, included the basic stadium structure. Later phases added a pavilion, accommodations for players, and administrative buildings, elevating the stadium to international standards.
