CSK made their biggest purchase of IPL history by signing Ben Stokes for a whopping INR 16.25 crore.
Chennai Super Kings take their time when it comes to auctions, but they are incredibly tactical in the way they approach it. This strategy has enabled them to find some truly exceptional players in the past. CSK displayed excellent judgement in their squad-strengthening this time by recruiting English all-rounder Ben Stokes at a substantial cost of INR 16.25 crore. This was certainly one of their best transactions as they assembled a formidable group of players.
Nobody expected CSK to go for Stokes, despite their expectations of Sam Curran getting a place back in the team. It was unexpected but turned out to be a great decision. CSK had a budget of INR 20.45 crore and seven spots to fill before the IPL 2023 Auction. They made some unexpected decisions and splurged on Stokes in particular. Ben Stokes and MS Dhoni have had prior experience of playing together for Rising Pune Supergiant. With Dwayne Bravo’s retirement from IPL, Stokes is a great addition to Chennai Super Kings (CSK) which will work wonders for them.

Rahane was brought on board to replace Uthappa, which was a very strategically sound decision based on his impressive displays during KKR’s season last year.
