The cricket ground at Kilbride was built in 2008 by businessman Peter Savill on his stud farm. It was officially inaugurated on 22 June 2008 with a match featuring an Ireland XI against a Lashings XI. Notably, the pavilion at the venue is an exact replica of the one at Ampleforth College in England, reflecting Savill’s connection to his alma mater. The ground hosted its first first-class cricket match in 2012, when Ireland faced South Africa A. Although two scheduled Twenty20 matches during the tour were canceled due to rain, the venue gained recognition for its quality.
However, in 2013, the ground’s future faced uncertainty when neighboring residents filed a legal case in the High Court over noise complaints. Despite this, the ground made history in 2017 by hosting a first-class match between Leinster Lightning and North West Warriors in the Inter-Provincial Championship. This marked the first domestic first-class match ever played in Leinster.
