Kowloon Cricket Club (Hong Kong) – Pitch Report

Kowloon Cricket Club pitch report

The Kowloon Cricket Club was founded on 4 October 1904, with land provided by the government in King’s Park. The club quickly became a competitive force, facing off against local clubs such as the Hong Kong Cricket Club, Craigengower Cricket Club, Parsee Cricket Club, Royal Engineers, Army Ordnance Corps CC, Civil Service CC, Royal Army Medical Corps, and HMS Tamar soldiers, who competed in the South China Morning Post Shield. On 18 January 1908, the foundation stone for the club’s first clubhouse was laid by Sir Hormusjee N. Mody, the club’s president and benefactor. To commemorate the event, Sir Mody was later presented with an engraved silver trowel. The Kowloon Cricket Club Pavilion was officially opened by the Governor, H.E. Sir Frederick Lugard, on 11 July 1908, marking a significant milestone in the club’s history.
