Since the inception of the Indian Premier League in 2008, Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Mumbai Indians (MI) have been the two best teams in the competition. These two clubs have shown consistency throughout. In addition to IPL matches, they’ve had some intense rivalries not just in the IPL but also in the now-defunct Champions League T20 (CLT20). Both groups won the IPL three times and twice each won the CLT20. The two sides have met 25 times in the IPL. MI has a head-to-head edge, with 13 victories to their credit. They first met on April 23, 2008, at the M. A. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Chennai. CSK edged Mumbai by 6 runs after scoring 208 runs as their strong start proved to be too much for Mumbai in the end.
