Is the Mumbai Indians (MI) one of the most successful teams in the Indian Premier League (IPL)? They have won the IPL championship three times. On the other side of the spectrum is Delhi Capitals (DC), based in Delhi. Previously known as Delhi Daredevils (DD), they were unable to get past the knockout stages in eleven seasons of the IPL. They have yet to participate in an IPL final. MI has twice won the Champions League T20 (CLT20), whereas DC has yet to win it. The IPL’s head-to-head conflict, though, does not reflect this. The two teams have faced each other 28 times in the IPL. Mumbai Indians have won 16 games and Delhi Capitals have won 12 times. On May 4th, 2008, at the DY Patil Sports Academy in Mumbai, they first met one another. Ashish Nehra (wicketkeeper), Shaun Pollock (bowler) and Dhawal Kulkarni all took three wickets each. In May 2018, the meeting between MI and DC was held at the Feroz Shah Kotla Stadium in Delhi on 20 May. The home side set a target of 175 runs. Delhi’s bowlers were too hot to handle for MI, as they fell short by 11 runs and were all out for 163. Sandeep Lamichhane, Harshal Patel, and Amit Mishra took three wickets each to help secure victory for the hosts.
