Is Melbourne Cricket Ground Batting Or Bowling Pitch?

The MCG pitch is known as one of the most competitive in the world. It has a perfect balance between bat and ball. While bowlers may receive some assistance early on because of mostly genuine bounce, as it ages, the batters may freely execute their strokes.

History

  • All of the playing field lights, including those in the light towers, were replaced with LED sports lighting from November 2019 through February 2020. In time for Boxing Day, the illumination under the roof and in two of the light towers was finished.
  • In the future, former Collingwood President Eddie McGuire wants to remodel the MCG by demolishing and rebuilding the Great Southern Stand to increase capacity to 110,000 seats. He has also suggested a retractable roof for the stadium, which would cost $1 billion.
